CNS Business(CNS): Government officials will be taking the opportunity to make sure the business community on Cayman Brac is prepared for the implementation of the new Trade and Business Law at a forthcoming business expo. Staff from the Department of Commerce and Investment will be at the expo, which is being organised by Hurley’s Media on Saturday 12 December to help business owners learn more about the new law.

“In late October, we set up information booths at the Brac supermarkets before staging a public meeting at the civic centre and the feedback we received was positive,” said DCI Director Ryan Rajkumarsingh. “We have always recognised the importance of commerce in the Sister Islands, and that’s why we have a DCI office in the Brac. With the law expected to commence soon, it’s important for us to reach out to all residents so that they can be prepared for the new law’”

Officials said that the new law aims to improve the governance structure and processes of the Trade and Business Licensing Board, reduce approval times, improve the DCI’s enforcement powers, and clarify business licensing categories.

For more information on the Brac expo at the Aston Rutty Centre call DCI on 948-2400 or 945-0943.
