(CNS Business): Cable and Wireless has said that it is starting an upgrade project this weekend adding 100Gbps capability to the Cayman-Jamaica Fiber System (CJFS) and the cable landing station at Eastern Avenue, George Town. This increased capability is designed to complement the firm’s increased Maya-1 cable system capacity, which lands at High Rock in the East End of Grand Cayman, in order to offer complete international route diversity to retail and wholesale customers in the Cayman Islands, C&W said in a release this week.

Paul Scott, CWC Networks EVP, said the project supported the continuing “growth and diversity of capacity needs of our wholesale customer base in Grand Cayman”. He added, “This expansion enables the Cayman ISP community full access to the C&W Networks eco-system of cable systems connecting Cayman to the US Eastern Seaboard, the Eastern Caribbean, Central and South America.”

Drivers are asked to take care when travelling down Eastern Avenue throughout the weekend as technicians will be working in the manholes on the road.
