Western Union reopens at Fosters

CNS Business(CNS Business): The money transfer service firm Western Union has reopened for business at Foster’s Food Fair airport branch, the financial services minister has confirmed. Wayne Panton told CNS Business that as of 9am Tuesday morning, the service was back in business as a result of a new partnership and Fosters would be the agent on Grand Cayman. Western Union services are expected to open at all of the Fosters supermarkets, with the Stand branch expected to open this afternoon and others tomorrow. Government will be hosting a televised press conference Wednesday to explain the details.

Customers will again be able to use local currency, addressing the US cash crisis which had gripped the islands since August.

Cash transfer firms stay open using US currency

GraceKennedy Money Services, a subsidiary of GraceKennedy Limited, is now the authorised agent of Western Union, facilitating the relaunch of the service following Fidelity’s decision to stop working with the money transfer company this summer as a result of pressure from their US partners.
