Mental health and palliative care lead conference agenda
(CNS Business): Organizers of the sixth annual Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference have confirmed that this year’s event will take place from 29 to 31 October, and will focus on emerging trends in healthcare, especially on mental health, palliative care and allied healthcare. As in previous years, the event is free of charge, with conference costs being covered by sponsors.
Lizzette Yearwood, chair of the conference planning committee and CEO of the Health Services Authority, said the event continued to offer valuable healthcare information to all of the delegates over the three days.
“We strategically choose our topics and speakers to convey messages to attendees that will not only be engaging, but provide inspiring words and knowledge to take back to the home or workplace,” Yearwood said. “We hope this conference will continue to better the lives and health of individuals as well as the Cayman community as whole.”
Taking place at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, organisers expect to exceed the 800 delegates that came last year, providing a forum for discussion on the issues dominating one of the biggest industries in the world.
Premier Alden McLaughlin, who will be joining the speakers at the conference, having taken on the health ministry this year, congratulated the organisers on their ability to constantly offer new and innovative material every year.
“The Cayman Island’s Healthcare Conference has developed into a leading healthcare event for the Caribbean region by providing a continuous supply of cutting edge information,” he said. “Organisers have also managed to ensure there is a high quality selection of sponsors on board to underpin the strength of the event.”
“Keeping current with emerging trends in healthcare is beneficial for healthcare systems, and we are happy to continue our support of the Cayman Islands Healthcare Conference,” said Craig Bloom, Chief Business Development Officer for Tenet Healthcare’s Florida region. “Every year, the Healthcare Conference expands, and this event allows all attendees to engage in thought-provoking conversations with colleagues that will ultimately benefit their patients.”
Along with Tenet as the Premium Plus sponsor, Cocktail Reception Sponsor is Ironshore Pharmaceuticals and Premium Sponsors include the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, Tower, Dart and BAF Insurance. Other sponsors include Cleveland Clinic Florida, Baptist Health International, BritCay, Jackson International, Broward Health International, The Wellness Centre, Fidelity and Generali.
Organisers said there were still a range of sponsorship opportunities available for the conference. Details can be found on the event website.
