(CNS Business): US News Travel & World Report released the rankings on the 12 best beaches in the world, and the Cayman Islands are at the top of the list. The travel website has ranked Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach as #1.
The US News Travel website stated that the “ranking of the best beaches in the world showcases what makes a beach stand out: ambiance, accessibility, affordability and approval among experts and travelers.” They picked Seven Mile Beach as the top beach vacation destination because, “It’s hard to compete with the coral sands of Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach. Brimming with luxury hotels and casual restaurants, the Cayman Islands leave travelers with little to complain about.”
Official stated the the 12 beaches picked are based on visitor reviews and expert evaluators.
Three other Caribbean destinations made the cut on US News’ top 12 list. Anguilla came in at #5, the Turks and Caicos Islands #7 and Playa del Carmen, along Mexico’s Caribbean coast made the list at #12.
The country is also making a splash on another travel website. The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) announced the Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef recently received a certificate of excellence award from the popular travel review website TripAdvisor.
Now in its fifth year, the award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews on TripAdvisor. Certificate of Excellence winners include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a superior customer experience.
Tiffany Dixon-Ebanks, Executive Director of the CITA, stated, “We are happy to see what past visitors have been saying about the dive site, their experiences and our island in general. We are celebrating the 5th anniversary of the sinking of the Kittiwake next January and the feedback simply attests to how successful the site has been at attracting both divers and snorkellers.”
CITA’s Watersports Director, Ash McKnight, added, “The visionary team that brought the Kittiwake to the Cayman Islands hit a bull’s-eye on this attraction. It’s rare that a shipwreck is honoured with this prestigious award and it goes to show that both CITA and the Cayman Islands Government working together facilitates a win win situation for a great Cayman tourism product.”
