Other outstanding first place awards included “Best Underwater Photographyâ€, “Best Wall Diving†and “Best Marine Environmentâ€, as well as second place wins for “Best Visibilityâ€, “Best Macro Divingâ€, and “Best Overall Destinationâ€.
Minister Kirkconnell also stated, “As a prime dive destination, we are so pleased to have a thriving dive community who care for our underwater splendor and act as ambassadors for the Cayman Islands. Earning awards such as these are a reflection of the valued partnerships between the dive operators, tourism and government who all must continue to work together to ensure that our dive sites thrive and draw visitors from around the globe in the future.â€
“The Cayman Islands has so much to offer those who visit us,†Director of Tourism, Rosa Harris said. “Beyond our beautiful walls, incredible aquatic life and dramatic wrecks, we can also offer those visitors accommodations at top-rated dive resorts and even a year’s worth of dive sites that fit any skill level. The dive industry is an integral part of the Cayman Islands’ culture and we are thrilled that it has been recognized by the international community.â€
This 2015, the dive industry hopes to entice new divers to visit the Cayman Islands during Legends and Lions, a month-long scuba showcase offering various vacation packages. This time is also an opportunity for the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame members and new 2015 inductees to come together in divers paradise.
