Cayman picks up inaugural media travel gong
(CNS): The Cayman Islands has been named the ‘Destination of the Year’ by The Caribbean Journal in their inaugural Caribbean Travel Awards. The on-line regional media selected the destination based on criteria that included “the efforts of its tourism sector†and “simply good marketing workâ€. Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism, Moses Kirkconnell said it was an honour to be acknowledged for the tireless efforts put forward as a country to make the islands stand out in the region.
“I am extremely proud of all those who understand that tourism matters,†he said. “Earning this type of recognition is positive reinforcement for all the persons locally and abroad who have steadfastly committed to making our tourism sector thrive by promoting our country as a leading Caribbean vacation destination.â€
Tourism Director Rosa Harris said there were many people on the Cayman Islands team who worked diligently to earn this recognition. “From the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism’s global team and affiliated agencies to the private sector partners who helped to create Caymankind experiences for our visitors, this award is another reminder that our work is noticed,†she added.
