CIDA offers 3-day directors accreditation course

(CNS Business): The Cayman Islands Directors Association (CIDA) is offering the Directors Accreditation Course (DEAP) again on the 10, 11 and 12 September. The cost of the course for CIDA members is US$1,000. The Accreditation Course is delivered in a condensed period of time and focuses on four areas, Governance, Finance, Strategy and Risk Management. Both experienced and newly appointed directors with management experience are invited to join. The workshop, lasting three days, will consists of presentations, discussions, case studies, and a quiz for each module.

CIDA President Paul Harris

CIDA’s main aim, according to Paul Harris, the president of CIDA, is “the education of Cayman based directors which we achieve through various educational events throughout the year.” CIDA holds several workshops but “the Accredited Director course which we present in association with the Canadian division of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators is the flagship of our efforts,” said Harris.

Those who complete the program successfully will be awarded the Accredited Director designation (Acc. Dir.) and will become members in the Affiliated Group of the Chartered Secretaries of Canada. Affiliate Group members have a subscription to Corporate Governance Quarterly, the premier publication on good governance practice; access to special rates for seminars, workshops and other continuing professional development opportunities.
