Deputy takes over as compliance boss at CIMA
Audrey Roe
(CNS Business): After ten years as deputy, Audrey Roe has been promoted to head of the Compliance Division at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. Now leading one of CIMA’s most important divisions, she has also assumed the role of money laundering reporting officer for the authority. With some thirty years financial sector experience, Roe will be responsible for managing and directing the enforcement actions taken by the regulator, overseeing the due diligence process on applicants seeking approval to act in regulated entities and assisting on overseas regulatory requests.
Her duties also include working closely with the Financial Reporting Authority concerning any suspicion of money laundering identified in the course of the authority’s supervisory functions.
CIMA Managing Director Cindy Scotland said the authority was pleased that Roe had accepted the challenge to head up the Compliance Division. “We are confident that her 10 years as deputy head have provided her with the tools required to be successful in her new role,” she stated in a release announcing Roe’s promotion.
Prior to joining CIMA, Roe worked for over 20 years in investment management services, the majority of which was spent as a portfolio manager. She held the post of Assistant Vice President, Investments, at CIBC Global Asset Management (Cayman) Limited and prior to that she was the Assistant Manager, Investments, at CIBC Bank & Trust Company (Cayman) Limited. Her career began in the financial services sector at NatWest International (now Coutts).
