(CNS Business): Walkers has added two new articled clerks to their training programme, bringing the number of current articled clerks in their Cayman office to six. Since 2002, the law firm has trained 31 articled clerks, all of whom went on to be admitted attorneys, Walkers said in a release. Sarah Dombowsky and Christopher Dibben began the Walkers’ Articled Clerk Training Programme on 19 October and will now spend the next 18-months undergoing rigorous training, rotating through all of the firm’s key practice areas, on their journey to becoming qualified attorneys with Walkers.

Both Dombowsky and Dibben are former Walkers scholarship recipients and have previously participated in the Walkers Legal Internship programme. They join four existing articled clerks, Renee Prendergast, Arleth Ebanks, Thea Maitland and Rebecca Peck. Four articled clerks who commenced their training at Walkers last year have also been admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar this year.

Walkers was the first firm in the Cayman Islands to develop a comprehensive Articled Clerk Training Programme and has been training Caymanians to work in the legal profession for the past 32 years, the firm said.

Dombowsky was a recipient of the 2009 Walkers Legal Scholarship. She completed her schooling at St Ignatius Catholic School in Grand Cayman and then undertook her LLB degree at the University of Kent in the United Kingdom, graduating with First Class Honours in 2013. During the past academic year, she completed the Legal Practice Course at BPP in London and was awarded a Distinction.

She has participated in four Legal Internships with the firm during the summers and completed placements in each of Litigation, Finance and Corporate, Funds and Trusts. Dombowsky ‘s first seat is in the Funds Group with Dorothy Scott Crumbley and she is articled to Caroline Heal.

Dibben was a recipient of the 2011 Walkers Legal Scholarship. He attended St Ignatius Catholic School until Hurricane Ivan in 2004, after which he moved to the US and completed his schooling in Coral Springs, Florida. He undertook his LLB degree at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, graduating with upper Second Class Honours in 2013.

Dibben then completed the Legal Practice Course in 2014 at the University of Law (Bloomsbury) in London and was awarded a Distinction. He has participated in three Legal Internships with the firm during the summers and completed placements in each of Funds, Finance and Corporate and Litigation. He has also previously worked in Global Legal Resources as a summer student. Dibben’s first seat is in the Trusts Group with Anthony Partridge and he is articled to Philip Paschalides.

“The process of identifying the brightest Caymanian candidates for our Articled Clerk Training Programme is extremely important to the firm,” commented Anthony Partridge, Senior Counsel with Walkers and Chairman of the firm’s Trainee Committee. “We look forward to seeing Sarah and Christopher completing their Articles and building a rewarding career with Walkers in the challenging field of law.”
