gas prices(CNS Business): The planning minister has questioned the basis for the increase of fuel prices and suggested that oil companies are “making hay while the sun shines”. Kurt Tibbetts continues to push for some type of public utilities commission to oversee the islands’ two major fuel distributors.  Such a body will have the power to check and order the fuel firms to reveal the markup on prices, as well as regulation of fuel quality standards.

Make conspiracy to fix prices illegal, like in other countries. Price controls only create long lines at the pump.

And yet, oil is at a six year low.

Proprietary information is preventing the public release of why prices are so high at the pump? That’s the problem with Cayman, too much secrecy (laws) and unspecified business relationships, along with a useless Attorney General Office that always intervenes in the wrong business (as well as political) matters.

If the was the U.S., the Justice Department would have alright forged an investigation, and eventual class-action lawsuit dependent on the findings.

I am really perplexed by how Government thinks it’s OK for Caymanians and Visitors the endure the economic strains resulting from exorbitant fuel costs?

Secrecy, gouging, fraud, coupled with Eco-political ineptness by our Government- past & present – in governing these islands like a quasi Banana Republic-3rd World State.

Just about everyone that come to our shores can effortlessly “milk the country’s people” without justice/prosecution or accountability for their actions.

This is such a damn SHAME!

As of yesterday, gas prices was at its lowest in 6-1/2 years; yet, Cayman petrol has increased?
Once again, what’s the (nonsensical) reasoning of the adverse relationship between local gas prices and global gas prices, in conjunction with business agreements.

    Seriously…this is some real BS!
