Airport holds specialist operations course

(CNS Business): A double specialist training session for airport staff in operations and safety saw more than 35 employees from the Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) participate alongside four of their peers from Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay in Jamaica. The two airfield operations courses were held from Monday 22 June to Friday 3 July at Owen Roberts International Airport and delivered by Airport Solutions Ltd, an international aviation training and consulting company.

The two-week course that was led by the company’s operations and safety director, Debbie Riley.

CIAA’s Chief Operations Officer, Dale Davis said, “This specialized training provided our staff with an excellent opportunity to better understand the fundamentals of airport operations and equip them with the tools to effectively discharge their duties in maintaining airport safety and operational readiness in the Cayman Islands.”

He explained that this was the first time these two courses have been offered together in the Caribbean and provided the opportunity for the Jamaican staff to join in.

“We were happy to open this course to our colleagues from Jamaica. Their participation facilitated the exchange of ideas and experiences that will mutually benefit our airports,” added Davis.
