Home Gas wins best chili award

(CNS Business): The heat was on at this year’s 2nd Annual International Caybrew Chili Cook-off. Twelve teams from restaurants and organizations from across the island broke out their cooking pots and their favorite chili recipes. Home Gas Ltd took home the coveted 1st place trophy, followed by Cayman Cabana in 2nd and Duke’s restaurant in 3rd place.

The winners were elected by a team of judges, two members of the International Chili Society flew in from Texas and joined Cayman Islands Governor Helen Kilpatrick and CNS’ own Wendy Ledger to taste what each group had to offer.

People’s Choice Award was given to Home Gas Ltd. Cayman Creperie and Lucky Slice received the award for Best Booth, and the Nice Try Award went home with the Blue Parrot at the Riviera.

The first place winners of the event, Home Gas, will represent the island as the official Cayman chili team at the international championship in Reno, Nevada, later this year.
