(CNS Business): Minister of Financial Services Wayne Panton said the Cayman Islands is now the preferred place for doing business, after being voted the Best Hedge Fund Services Jurisdiction at the 2015 Hedge Global Awards in London.

“This truly is a jurisdictional achievement, founded on the historically strong relationship between government and the financial services industry,” Panton said. “It’s proof that Cayman’s model works; our legislative framework meets client needs, and our regulatory mechanisms ensure the soundness and global reputation of our jurisdiction.”

Hedgeweek is the largest online news publisher serving the investment and wealth managers market. Cayman Finance CEO, Jude Scott, said that he was delighted with Cayman’s award win.

“This is the first time Hedgeweek included this category into their awards, so I am thrilled Cayman is the very first recipient,” Scott explained.  “We will, as an industry, continue to provide the very best services to our clients through innovation and excellence at every level.”

The Hedgeweek Global Award winners are voted by their over 40,000 subscribers, comprised of industry professionals who include institutional investors, wealth managers, fund managers and other industry professionals.

“This award has particular significance as winners were chosen by industry professionals themselves, reflecting the true experience of our business partners and clients,” Scott said.

The award was collected on 27 February by Mark Lewis, a Cayman Finance board member.
