(CNS Business): The Best Dressed Chicken and Jamaica Observer have announced the Cayman Islands edition of the Table Talk Food Awards. On Thursday residents of the Cayman Islands and Jamaica gathered to launch the event that will showcase our islands’ culinary excellence.

The one-night celebration is scheduled to take place on 16 October. From now until 11 October judges will be taste testing and dinning at all 400 restaurants and judge each establishment from the food to the service.

The Table Talk Food Awards is an event to honor and highlight new frontiers of flavour, from famous dining places to unexpected hideaways in the Cayman food industry. The judges will make selections in a wide range of more than 20 categories, including Best Chef and Restaurant of the Year.

“We want to unveil the under-appreciated restaurants in the Cayman Islands,” head judge Jo-Anne Stephens said.

The Cayman Islands is the second Caribbean island outside of Jamaica to host the Awards, following Trinidad and Tobago in 2013.

Christopher Levy is the President and CEO of Jamaica Broilers Group. He said the Jamaica Table Talk Awards is in its 17th  year and is happy to see the Cayman Islands host their own event.

“I think it’s an amazing opportunity for the investment into the food industry in Cayman,” Levy explained. He said it was a great time for people to come together and honor the Caribbean food heritage.

“There are tremendous skills and talent here and the dining experience enhancing the overall product delivery of Cayman. I think there is an opportunity here to deepen the fabric of the offering Cayman has to her guests and residents,” Levy said.

Officials said the venue for the event has not been decided yet.
