(CNS Business): As Health City Cayman Islands continues its outreach to attract patients from North America to the state-of-the-art facility, the hospital was featured in a documentary that premiered at an international healthcare conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, last month. “From the Heart: Healthcare Transformation from India to the Cayman Islands” was shown at the Healthcare Analytics Summit as an example of a model for US health systems. In the video officials described the specialist hospital as a “ground-breaking new model for healthcare for the 21st Century”.

It highlights the work of the East End hospital’s founder, Dr Devi Shetty, and his effort to make quality healthcare affordable, not only to the people of India but across the world.

“It’s the strategy of our group to reduce the cost of healthcare across the planet,” Dr Shetty said in the documentary, which was produced by Health Catalyst.

The short film takes a look into the operations of the hospital, with Health City Director Gene Thompson showcasing the facilities, as well as interviews with Dr Chandy Abraham, HCCI Medical and Facility Director, and leading Health City heart surgeons. The doctor explains Health City’s price bundling of services to emphasise the fact that, unlike hospitals elsewhere, Health City Cayman Islands will only charge one competitive fee, which includes all costs, such as anesthesiologist and hospital fees.

Thompson discusses the significance of Health City Cayman Islands for the provision of healthcare services for the region:

“We’re never going to match India and their costs but we feel we can show that in a high-cost destination we can provide high-quality low-cost healthcare if we think outside of the box. It’s about saving lives and providing the highest quality healthcare to the most people at an affordable price, because humanity deserves it,” he said in the video.

The film debuted at the conference and is now available for viewing online but the producers are also investigating other broadcasting opportunities.
