(CNS Business): A new documentary about tax havens, “The Price We Pay”, is to receive its world première on 5 September at the Toronto International Film Festival. TIFF says Director by Harold Crooks “blows the lid off the dirty world of corporate malfeasance with this incendiary documentary about the dark history and dire present-day reality of big-business tax avoidance, which has seen multinationals depriving governments of trillions of dollars in tax revenues by harbouring profits in offshore havens.”

Crooks’ previous film, “Surviving Progress”, which highlighted the lack of an ethical underpinning in modern global economic practices, was described as “bone-chilling” by well-known film critic Roger Ebert.

The Tax Justice Network’s director John Christensen and senior adviser Jim Henry are featured in the film.
